The Placement of Your Trash Can Matters
Correctly placing your trash can ensures smooth collection of garbage, recyclables, or yard waste.
Our trucks use automated arms to efficiently grab and empty your bins. This process enhances collection speed and reduces the risk of injuries.
- Place the cart just beyond the curbside street gutter by 5:00am on residential garbage and recycling day.
- Make sure the cart handles face your property with the lid opening toward the street.
- Place the cart at least 5 feet away from any obstructions (ie: mailboxes, vehicles, basketball hoops, low hanging trees and branches). This helps to ensure our Elko Sanitation Truck’s mechanical arm can pick up the cart. For residents with multiple carts, please place the carts at least 3 feet apart from each other.
